American Paper Planes
Mar 13th
I fly like paper, get high like planes
Did you know that it’s cheaper to book American Airlines flights directly through AA.com instead of Hotwire, Priceline, or Orbitz and etc.? I’m not sure if this is the case for other airlines. The other cool thing about AA.com is that it let’s you HOLD your tickets for at least one day. That gives you some time to decide whether you want to purchase or not.
All I wanna do is (BANG BANG BANG BANG!)
And (KKKAAAA CHING!)
And take your money
My recent Vegas trip was not as profitable as my previous one in January, but it’s all good. While we were playing at Caesar’s they were filming an NBC Heads Up Tournament in the back so we got to see all the famous poker players there like Scotty Nguyen, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Sam Farha, and so on… Don Cheadle and Brad Garrett were also there. There was one hot blonde who made it pretty far… Vanessa Rousso. She’s an official GoDaddy.com spokesmodel. A few of us entered a small tournament but I didn’t get very far :-(. One of us placed 5th I think.
No one on the corner has swagger like us
We went to Tao nightclub at the Venetian on Saturday night. Thanks to Char and her hookup, we were able to get like 20 people in with no cover charge or waiting in line. VIP baby!
Already going hell just pumping that gas
On our way back home we made a few stops:
1) Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker, CA - Obviously, this place sells beef jerky. There’s a fake car parked outside with alien mannequins inside. The store itself wasn’t as space themed as I thought it would be, but still a cool place to check out if you can. A regular sized bag of beef jerky costs $8. I got one bag of Honey Teriyaki and now wish I had bought more. It’s so good!
2) Peggy Sue’s Diner in Yermo, CA - This is a 50s themed diner off the 15 freeway. We had a little trouble finding it because Google Maps led us the wrong way - beware! Some of the customers inside were creepy looking - very reminiscent of the Eyes Have Hills type people haha. But the decor inside is very entertaining and food was actually pretty decent. I had the chicken fried steak with baked potato and cornbread… mmm! I will definitely come back again.
Ayo Technology Dependencies
Mar 10th
You got me saying
Ayo, I’m tired of using technology
With all different ways of communicating these days (MySpace, Facebook, AIM, etc.), one would think that people are more connected now than ever. But I wonder - are we depending so much on technology that we are actually disconnecting ourselves from the real world?
Kind of ironic coming from a Computer Science major, right? Well, I admit that I am a total internet junkie and have been for many many years. After my recent trip to Vietnam, I started realizing that many people, including myself, have been taking certain things for granted, particularly human interaction.
Lately, I’ve been making more effort to meet with family and friends in person - through dinners, video games, fondue, poker nights, and other events. One thing I try to avoid is clubbing because the environment is way too noisy for any meaningful conversations (plus I don’t even like to dress up or drink alcohol).
Anyhow, I’m amazed at how much reaction I got from my recent Facebook status change from “In a Relationship” to “Single”. I got more phone calls and comments in one day than I usually do in a whole month. Why does it take a seemingly negative event for one person to get in touch with another…when we should probably be communicating with one another on a more regular and personal basis? I’m guilty as charged.
Baby, this a new age, you’re like my new craze
I’ve contemplated cancelling all my online profile accounts before, but so many people depend on those things to get in touch with me that if I do, I’m afraid I won’t ever hear from then again and vice versa. We’re so dependent, sometimes even obsessive with these types of communications, that we often lose ourselves in it.
Girl Scout Cookie Jar
Mar 3rd
Can’t keep my hands, my hands, my, uh, my
Can’t keep my hands, my hands my hands out the cookie jar.
Guess what? It’s Girl Scout Cookies season! I’ve been waiting for this all year. Beware of price gouging! I’m not going to name names, but someone I know paid $5/box (they are supposed to be $4/box). The girl scouts told him/her that they usually cost $6 but for him/her it would only cost $5 - so after he/she bought 3 boxes, the girls ended up pocketing $3. I should write a complaint letter.
Anyways, I’m picking mine up in 1 hour. P.S. I’m not sharing.
