Lynduh’s Poker Face

Mum mum mum mah
Mum mum mum mah
Mum mah apologies. It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog. I hope my stalkers readers are still out there. (Hi! :-)) Work has been pretty crazy busy lately… I guess that’s a good thing considering this economy.
Anyhoo, here are a few of my latest music picks (they might be outdated… I meant to post this months ago):
- Knock You Down - Keri Hilson, Kanye West, and Ne-Yo
- Hatin’ on the Club - Rihanna
- We Love LA - Ya Boy ft. Dr. Hollywood
I wanna hold em’ like they do in Texas, please
Fold em’ let em’ hit me, raise it baby, stay with me
Luck and intuition play the cards with spades to start
And after he’s been hooked I’ll play the one that’s on his heart
I was on quite a lucky streak last month. Won 5 big ones in a GPT (Ghetto Poker Tournament) in Santa Ana. A couple weeks later I won $$$ + bragging rights for life in a Heads Up battle against Adawg.
Charlene (read her Hydroxycut success story here) got me hooked on some type of rummy mahjong game. It’s pretty fun, even though I’m terrible at it. :-\
Seems like I’m always blogging about GAMBLING. I’m not addicted, I swear!
I wanna roll with him a hard pair we will be
A little gambling is fun when you’re with me
I took a trip up north with some friends last month, and surprisingly we did not gamble the entire time!
Flew in Friday night. Although we had many options, we chose to stay in for a movie night.
Watched Mulholland Drive - highly recommended if you like weird movies such as Donnie Darko… or if you like watching “2 chicks!”
We spent the entire Saturday in San Francisco and stayed at the Hilton hotel. Took the trolley from downtown to Fisherman’s Wharf for lunch. Although it was a fun experience, I will never ride on one ever again. The lines are ridiculously long and the trip takes for-ev-ev-ev forever. Went shopping for a little bit. Had dinner at Panta Rei Cafe - their eggplant lasagna was to die for! yummers. Afterwards we hung out at Apt 24 Bar/Club with a bunch of Mike’s and Adawg’s doctor and dentist friends. yawn. (hehe :-P)
Thank goodness Kimbo Slice (and Freddie Mac) joined us. She always brings more life to the party! P.S. I want what she’s having.
Here’s a group pic of the UCR crew:
Good times!
On Sunday, we had brunch at Universal Cafe - highly recommended as well.. their menu changes every day. I had Biscuits & Gravy with Poached Egg + side of potatoes. Mmm! Later that night we celebrated Mike’s early birthday with some Japanese Teppan and Marie Callendar’s apple pie. Oh and let’s not forget - we also spent most of the day watching How to Catch a Predator….. .. … don’t ask.
Just like a chick in the casino
Take your bank before I pay you out
I promise this, promise this
Check this hand ’cause I’m marvelous
So yeah, work is crazy busy. I’m actually doing real marketing stuff now which is awesome.
Lynq Media is co-sponsoring VANG 2009 in Beverly Hills. I’m busy prepping for that, among other things. Let me know if you are interested in attending or sponsoring as well!

So in case you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m trying a new thing where I relate lyrics of a song to parts of my blog entries. I hope it isn’t lame! Well, if you hang out with me in real life, you’ll find that I like to break out into song sometimes so this is only fitting. Til next time - hopefully, not long!
American Paper Planes
Mar 13th
I fly like paper, get high like planes
Did you know that it’s cheaper to book American Airlines flights directly through AA.com instead of Hotwire, Priceline, or Orbitz and etc.? I’m not sure if this is the case for other airlines. The other cool thing about AA.com is that it let’s you HOLD your tickets for at least one day. That gives you some time to decide whether you want to purchase or not.
All I wanna do is (BANG BANG BANG BANG!)
And (KKKAAAA CHING!)
And take your money
My recent Vegas trip was not as profitable as my previous one in January, but it’s all good. While we were playing at Caesar’s they were filming an NBC Heads Up Tournament in the back so we got to see all the famous poker players there like Scotty Nguyen, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Sam Farha, and so on… Don Cheadle and Brad Garrett were also there. There was one hot blonde who made it pretty far… Vanessa Rousso. She’s an official GoDaddy.com spokesmodel. A few of us entered a small tournament but I didn’t get very far :-(. One of us placed 5th I think.
No one on the corner has swagger like us
We went to Tao nightclub at the Venetian on Saturday night. Thanks to Char and her hookup, we were able to get like 20 people in with no cover charge or waiting in line. VIP baby!
Already going hell just pumping that gas
On our way back home we made a few stops:
1) Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker, CA - Obviously, this place sells beef jerky. There’s a fake car parked outside with alien mannequins inside. The store itself wasn’t as space themed as I thought it would be, but still a cool place to check out if you can. A regular sized bag of beef jerky costs $8. I got one bag of Honey Teriyaki and now wish I had bought more. It’s so good!
2) Peggy Sue’s Diner in Yermo, CA - This is a 50s themed diner off the 15 freeway. We had a little trouble finding it because Google Maps led us the wrong way - beware! Some of the customers inside were creepy looking - very reminiscent of the Eyes Have Hills type people haha. But the decor inside is very entertaining and food was actually pretty decent. I had the chicken fried steak with baked potato and cornbread… mmm! I will definitely come back again.
Ayo Technology Dependencies
Mar 10th
You got me saying
Ayo, I’m tired of using technology
With all different ways of communicating these days (MySpace, Facebook, AIM, etc.), one would think that people are more connected now than ever. But I wonder - are we depending so much on technology that we are actually disconnecting ourselves from the real world?
Kind of ironic coming from a Computer Science major, right? Well, I admit that I am a total internet junkie and have been for many many years. After my recent trip to Vietnam, I started realizing that many people, including myself, have been taking certain things for granted, particularly human interaction.
Lately, I’ve been making more effort to meet with family and friends in person - through dinners, video games, fondue, poker nights, and other events. One thing I try to avoid is clubbing because the environment is way too noisy for any meaningful conversations (plus I don’t even like to dress up or drink alcohol).
Anyhow, I’m amazed at how much reaction I got from my recent Facebook status change from “In a Relationship” to “Single”. I got more phone calls and comments in one day than I usually do in a whole month. Why does it take a seemingly negative event for one person to get in touch with another…when we should probably be communicating with one another on a more regular and personal basis? I’m guilty as charged.
Baby, this a new age, you’re like my new craze
I’ve contemplated cancelling all my online profile accounts before, but so many people depend on those things to get in touch with me that if I do, I’m afraid I won’t ever hear from then again and vice versa. We’re so dependent, sometimes even obsessive with these types of communications, that we often lose ourselves in it.
Girl Scout Cookie Jar
Mar 3rd
Can’t keep my hands, my hands, my, uh, my
Can’t keep my hands, my hands my hands out the cookie jar.
Guess what? It’s Girl Scout Cookies season! I’ve been waiting for this all year. Beware of price gouging! I’m not going to name names, but someone I know paid $5/box (they are supposed to be $4/box). The girl scouts told him/her that they usually cost $6 but for him/her it would only cost $5 - so after he/she bought 3 boxes, the girls ended up pocketing $3. I should write a complaint letter.
Anyways, I’m picking mine up in 1 hour. P.S. I’m not sharing.
I’m On a PinkBerry Boat (ft. LT-Pain)
Feb 20th
The Lonely Island boys from SNL have a new music video out called “I’m On a Boat (ft. T-Pain)”. It’s pretty funny..check it out:
I never thought I’d be on a boat… It’s a big blue watery road… Poseiden!
T-Pain is the shiznitz.

The Informant (2009)
Feb 12th
One of my website design clients was in federal prison for 9 years because of some white collar crime. They are going to make a movie about his case and it’s going to be starring Matt Damon! CBS did a little special on it… and in the clip there’s a brief screen of the website I did. Link to the video: http://cypsystems.com/interview.html Look for a blue circle with “Seleno Excell” wording on it….
Welcome to HaterNation

Push (Movie)
Dumbest movie and plot ever.
“DJ Khaled” Police Chase
I can’t believe I wasted hours watching this on TV…
Bank of America
I was waiting in line inside a BOFA the other day… The greeter/hostess kept convincing me to go outside to use the ATM instead, but I told her I felt safer making my transaction inside. She went on and on about all the reasons why I should use the ATM… I’m thinking.. I’m already the next person in line you idiot! argh.. Even the other people in line were getting frustrated for me.
Chris Brown vs. RiRi
Famous people do the dumbest things…
2009 Grammy’s
Call me a hater, but I can’t stand The Jonas Brothers! Miley Cyrus did NOT do any justice to Taylor Swift’s song. They should’ve just let Taylor sing the whole thing herself…she’s such a doll!
Mother of Octuplets
Don’t get me started. Anyone paying her money for anything is stupid.
My Name is Lynda, and I’m a Pokerholic
Feb 5th
My updated new year resolutions:
- Keep my closet clean
- Maintain my backyard
- Win a seat into the WSOP main event
#1 and #2 are in the works. #3… Winning a seat is probably more realistic than winning the entire event right? Man, I’m a pokerholic.
I guess that could be my one interesting thing I did in 2009.
For the past 3 weeks I’ve been completely obsessed with the new season of LOST. But I’m sure none of you care. I’m like the only person I know that watches that show. :-\
Anyways, last Sunday I went to 3 Superbowl parties. One in OC, another in Diamond Bar, and one in Ontario. Ate sooo much food and played sooo much poker… I think I played a total of 8 tournaments. Placed 1st/2nd in 5 of them. The most satisfying moment was knocking out my pokerenemy Thybones FTW (For The Win) - split the pot with Adawg. Yay!
OK, enough Poker talk…
I need new clothes, STAT! Jeans, shirts, dresses, shoes!! I’m a walking fashion disaster.
Chuc Mung Nam Moi 2009
Jan 27th
Wishing all my stalkers blog followers a happy and prosperous new year!
I started out the new year by watching a few movies:
Slumdog Millionaire
After watching the SAG Awards, we decided to check this out to see what the hype was all about. Turned out to be a real gem. Highly highly recommended! It’s a movie for everyone…romance, comedy, tragedy, violence, etc….
Yes! Man
Typical Jim Carrey movie…has its ups and downs, but entertaining overall.
New Year’s Coming Again…
Jan 19th
I’m very confused about what day / weekend Tet is supposed to be this year. Someone please help me figure this out!
I just realized how generic my 2009 New Year’s Resolutions were. I think I listed the same things from the past years. Which means I haven’t lived up to any of them… :-\
Camera fund update: $0.00 I guess my 2 fans don’t care.
Well, at least I tried!
